Fan: Will you be touring to the pacific north west anytime soon?
JLAWith my writing schedule, probably not anytime soon. I’m hoping to have some free travel time next summer or fall.

Fan: Are there any plans for an Arum Series?
JLAThat’s answered
HERE

Fan: When you begin to write, how do you start? Is it hard to begin a novel?
JLABeginnings can be hard. I always start with the main character.

Fan: ¿Cuando empiezas a escribir, cómo lo haces? ¿Es difícil empezar una novela?
JLA: Los principios pueden ser difíciles. Siempre empiezo con el personaje principal.

Fan: How do you go about making your characters unique and different than the majority of books in the NA category? Do you put a lot of effort making sure your main characters are not the typical hot guy/virginized shy quiet girl?
JLA: I don’t think it takes a lot of effort to make them different, but all my NA guys are good guys. They can be alpha and not be a dick. LOL.

LOL

Fan: When will the next book in the Unchained series be out? Do you spend time in Snowshoe? How many people will die in Sentinel?
JLA1. Not sure about that series yet. 2. Love Snowshoe. 3. Can’t answer that question =)

JLA: 1. No estoy segura sobre esta saga. 2. Me encanta Snowshoe. 3. No puedo responder a esa pregunta.

Fan: If you could live in the reality of one of your books, which one would it be?
JLAI would live in the Covenant world.

Fan: I absolutely love your work. How do you feel about and treat negative reviews?
JLAThanks! I really don’t focus on them. Reading is too subjective to worry about everyone liking your book. And negative reviews can actually sell a book, so to each their own.

Fan:Me encanta tu trabajo. ¿Cómo te sientes y enfrentas las reseñas negativas?
JLA: ¡Gracias!

Fan: You know you follow an author closely when you can answer many of these questions for her. What’s your favorite state to visit for conferences? (You can say Florida, it’s ok).
JLALOL. Actually, right now, it would be somewhere close to home so I didn’t have to travel as much.

Fan: What was in the note that Daemon passed to Katy?
JLAThat’s actually answered
HERE

Fan: Are you planning on releasing Trust In Me as a paperback?
JLAIt actually releases in print on 11/26.

Fan: Are there going to be anymore chapters where you switch to Aiden’s POV? Is there any advice to give to aspiring authors?
JLAI don’t know if I have any time to do more Aiden POV. Best advice I can give is to keep writing. Keep reading. And don’t give up.

Fan: What is the publisher’s criteria for sending you out on promo tours? Is there any chance that you will come to LA next year?
JLAYou know, that’s a good question. I have no idea. Sometimes I see places they want to send me to and i’m like WHAT?

Fan: Your writing of the Lux series is interesting and while it sort of ran along the same tropes as many YA books today, it continued to keep me interested. With such an original idea why did you fall back on some of the standard tropes? Is it because of the pressures from the publishers? Because it seems like that sells? Or is that genuinely where you feel this story was supposed to go? It seems like a lot of YA stories have the potential to really go somewhere unique, and instead of finding the audience for that unique book, they make the book for the let’s face it Twilight audience. I appreciate anything you can tell us about this phenomena in the YA books.
JLAAll genres follow tropes — adult, YA, NA, etc. Finding a novel that doesn’t is like looking for a needle in a pile of needles methinks. Adult novels all have about the same amount of tropes used over and over again, but for some reason, people are much harder on YA for using tropes. Something I’ve never quite understood. I write what I do because it’s what I enjoy to read. Ultimately, I like the whole set up, so that’s what I write. Because I enjoy it, it makes me passionate about what I’m writing. I don’t think much authors or editors even put that much thought into it. They are just writing what they want to read. I’m also not really sure of what the Twilight audience part means. Readers of all ages read Twilight, from teenagers to grandmas, and who wouldn’t want that kind of audience? LOL.

LOL.

Fan: When you are writing, do you have specific music you listen to or any pre-writing rituals? Will you be touring in Canada anytime soon? Thank you so much for bestowing your amazing talent upon us book lovers and for taking the time to answer our questions!
JLAHey there, so glad you enjoyed! 1. I don’t usually listen to music to aspire wiring. Every once in a while I will for a fight scene. 2. I don’t have an active passport, so I reallly need to get on that for me to travel outside of the US lol.

Fan: Who is your favorite character from Supernatural?
JLAMine is Dean and Sebastian. I also really liked Loki. =)

JLA: Dean y Sebastian. También me gusta Loki =)

Fan: A lot of people find Daemon and Aiden to be the perfect guys. If you were to meet one of them in real life, who do you think you would fall for?
JLAI’d probably go for Aiden. He seems a lot more long term than Daemon.

Fan: Will you come to the author and readers event in Edinburgh next July?
JLAI’d love to come to Edinburgh, but my schedule for next summer is already filling up. Hopefully I’ll get overseas soon.

Fan: When you’re beginning to write a new book, do you have a set plan about what’s going to happen? Or do you just go with whatever comes to mind? Is there anything in particular that helps you to write? Is there one character that you love and would never kill? Which is your favorite book that you’ve written?
JLAI know how the book will end, but I don’t plot it completely out. 2. The main thing is that I have to be alone to write. 3. Oh, if only I could answer that without spoiling the books. 4. My favorite is Wait For You.

4. Mi libro favorito es Wait For You.

Fan: How often do you write?
JLAI write EVERY SINGLE DAY unless I’m traveling.

Fan: ¿Cuán a menudo escribes?

Fan: I found out that you are writing under 4 names? Is there a reason for writing under 4 pseudonyms? What stories fall under which? How do you know which name to use for which story?
JLAI am not writing under four names – just two. There is another Jennifer Armintrout who writes under three different names I think, but we aren’t the same person. I write under J.Lynn and that usually is NA and Adult and my real name is YA, but I think I will eventually be getting rid of the pen name.

Fan: He encontrado que escribes bajo cuatro nombres.
JLA: No escribo bajo 4 nombres - solo 2.

Fan: You write YA, NA, and Adult romance. Is there any other genre you would like to write in? Or is there one that you wish you could write in?
JLAThank you! I’d love to be able to write historicals, but I’d never be able to get the language, etc. right.

Fan: I am completely in love with your writing, and you of course! Do you do it on purpose tomake the reader feel like they are actually where the characters are, if so, how do you do that? Is there a trick?
JLAThank you! Yes. I do it on purpose. When I write, I see it playing out in my head and that’s how I write it down.

Fan: What do you do when you read a really sad book and you can’t stop crying. How do you assure yourself that it’s okay? How do you separate imagination with reality?
JLAI try to stay away from really sad books. LOL. Since my job relies on me focusing on my imagination, I don’t have to separate it.
=D

Saludos Luxen,

Isabella
